Unleash your creativity and develop your skills in our two-day Teapot Workshop at Radius Art Studio. Designed for those with a passion for pottery and a basic understanding of throwing, this workshop is an exciting opportunity to craft a teapot that you can take home to use and cherish.
Day One – Throwing the Teapot:
Your journey begins with a hands-on session focused on throwing the various components of a teapot. You’ll learn the nuances of creating a well-balanced teapot body, crafting a snug-fitting lid, and the art of throwing lids and spouts off the hump. Our experienced instructor, Lela of nowwhatpotteryworks, will guide you through each step, with the goal of creating a teapot that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
Day Two – Trimming, Assembling, and Finishing Touches:
On the second day, you’ll refine your teapot through careful trimming and troubleshooting lid fits. Discover the art of making ergonomic handles and attaching all the parts seamlessly. Lela will offer personalized advice and techniques to ensure your teapot is a unique reflection of your craftsmanship.
Post-Workshop Glazing, Firing, and Pickup:
Choose from white, black, or blue glaze for your teapot. Radius Art Studio will take care of the glazing and firing process. Your teapot will be ready for pickup during our regular open studio hours during the month of February.
Skill Level: This workshop is designed for those with intermediate-advanced wheel throwing skills. While some prior throwing experience is necessary, our workshop is designed to accommodate various skill levels, and Lela will work with each student to help them work towards their goals.
