Description
We are thrilled to host this drawing class with guest teacher and artist Aaron Piland.
Aaron will guide students on an easy stroll around various parks to collect and identify local plants and flowers. Following the walk, students will gather together and draw what they found. Bring a sketchbook, a pencil, a snack, a water bottle, and any other supplies you’d like to explore.
This class is for all levels and emphasizes slowing down and being present with nature. By drawing plants, we can get to know them and ourselves in a more intimate and connected way.
About the instructor:
Aaron Piland is a Portland based artist and illustrator who blurs the line between mind and matter. From a young age he was encouraged to make art as a form of self discovery. Today art is his native language which he uses to translate thoughts and feelings into color and form. He has worked extensively with traditional mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, and gouache as well as digital mediums such as procreate, photoshop, and illustrator and finds the two disciples complimentary. He works both as a painter for galleries and as an illustrator for clients. He holds a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design.
