Description
Workshop fee includes 12 instructed sessions, 20 firing slips, 25 lbs of clay, and 24 free open studio hours.
In this semester-long workshop, students will have time to go deeper and further develop their wheel throwing skills. We will explore throwing larger, adding attachments, altering forms, and several surface decorating techniques. The lessons will be a mix of skill-building exercises and project-based lessons and are always informed by the student’s goals. This class is geared towards those who have a basic foundation in clay, with an end goal that everyone will leave throwing more informed, even walled, larger pieces.
Some wheel throwing experience is required (12 weeks of prior ceramics experience is suggested. Students should be able to throw a 6 inch even walled cylinder).
This session includes 24 free “open studio” hours to come in and practice (without instruction) outside of class times. These open hours will be limited to Thursday 5pm- 9pm, Friday 4pm-8pm, Saturday 1pm-5pm, and Sunday 10am-2pm.
