This hands-on, 5-week workshop dives deep into the art of pinching and coiling, two fundamental hand-building techniques that form the foundation for a wide range of ceramic projects. Whether you’re new to ceramics or looking to expand your skills, this class will provide you with personalized guidance to help bring your vision to life.
Using the techniques demonstrated by our expert instructor Kiki, you’ll have the freedom to create whatever your heart desires! From mugs, bowls, lidded jars, and other dinnerware to more sculptural figures or animals- we’ll be there to guide you through the process. Along the way, you’ll also learn techniques for surface design and glazing to elevate your work to the next level.
Each session includes instructor-led demonstrations and individual support. Advanced students can expect expert guidance as they tackle more complex pieces like larger objects, lamps, mixed media projects, or sets and collections.
No prior experience with clay is necessary. This workshop is perfect for those new to ceramics or those looking to enhance their existing abilities.
*DOUBLE THE FUN* Take this class followed by our 5 week “Short and Sweet” Slab Building for a deeper dive into hand-building techniques! Students who register for consecutive Short and Sweet sessions can use the coupon code “doublethefun” at checkout for $100 on their second class.
What’s Included:
- 5 Instructed Sessions, 2.5 hours each
- Material and Tools: Each student will receive 12 lbs of clay, 10 firing slips, and access to tools and our large selection of custom glazes.
- 12 free Open Studio Hours to practice independently. Open Studio Hours are valid through the end of the 10 week course. Hours are redeemed in 2 hour “blocks”. Additional hours can be purchased at $20 per 2 hour block.
Open Studio Hours:
Tuesdays, 1pm-5pm
Fridays, 4pm-8pm
Saturdays, 1pm-5pm
Sundays, 10am-2pm
