Our 5-week Wheel Throwing class is the perfect introduction to pottery, offering a fun, supportive environment to learn the essentials of working on the wheel. We’ll cover the fundamentals of throwing, trimming, and glazing, giving you the skills and confidence to continue your clay journey.
Each class includes demonstrations followed by plenty of hands-on work time, with individualized one-on-one guidance from our instructor to help you meet your personal goals and progress at your own pace.
No prior clay experience is necessary. Beginners will learn foundational techniques while creating forms such as cups, mugs, bowls, and more. Returning and intermediate students are also welcome to join for a refresher, extra practice, or independent work with personalized feedback and guidance. While this class isn’t as in-depth as our 10-week courses, it’s a wonderful way to build a strong foundation, reconnect with the wheel, or simply enjoy five creative weeks in the studio.
Whether you’re curious about ceramics, looking for a creative outlet, or wanting to see if clay is the right fit before committing to one of our full 10-week classes, this shorter session is a welcoming and approachable place to get your hands muddy.
What’s Included:
- 5 Instructed Sessions, 2.5 hours each
- Materials and Tools: Each student will receive 12 lbs of clay, 10 firing slips, and access to tools and our large selection of custom glazes.
- 12 free Open Studio Hours to practice independently. Open Studio Hours are valid through the end of the 5 week course. Hours are redeemed in 2 hour “blocks”. Additional hours can be purchased at $20 per 2 hour block.
Open Studio Hours:
Tuesdays, 1pm-5pm
Fridays, 4pm-8pm
Saturdays, 1pm-5pm
Sundays, 10am-2pm
