Description
Come settle into a quiet space for reflection and creation.
We’ll begin with a guided 25-minute meditation, followed by simple, intuitive art-making. The session offers time to pause, listen inwardly, and let the process unfold naturally.
No experience with art or meditation is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
About the instructor: Ellen Stern is a Portland-based painter whose work is deeply influenced by her ancestors—people of all genders whose crochet, weaving, embroidery, painting, woodworking, and photography shaped her sense of craft and care. A retired psychotherapist and long-time meditation practitioner, Ellen sees painting as both refuge and offering: a continuation of ancestral traditions, a practice of attention, and an invitation to pause and wonder. She currently leads a weekly meditation group at Art at the Cave in Vancouver, Washington, open to all.
About the classroom space: Ulna studio is a creative space located on the 2nd floor of the Portland Storage Building on SE Morrison St. Contact the instructor for door code access. Please note there is a flight of stairs between street level and our second-floor studio.
