This in person class is organized to address the needs of the beginner painter who wants to practice and learn the basics. New painters will learn to build an acrylic (or oil) underpainting from scratch, and mix colors while developing your ability to evaluate value and composition. The setting is relaxed and informative. For returning students with experience in acrylic or oil, this workshop will provide an opportunity to work on independent projects. The intention of this class is to create a space for artistic learning, showing by example in real time the practice and thought process of being an artist, creating a IRL group space to share and talk about art while offering advice on materials, technique, and subject matter.
Masks will be optional, and we ask that you do not come to class if you are feeling sick. We require vaccination to participate in this in person class.
As an instructor, Jolyn is here to help students address artist blocks, and model how to create time and space for a nourishing art practice.
A materials list will be provided upon registration.

About the instructor:
“I highly recommend taking studio classes or seminar time at Radius with Jolyn Fry. She is a wonderful artist and teacher, she establishes a legit space to learn and create, it is relaxing, non-competitive, yet as serious as you wanna make it and take it. Jolyn is very kind and does what she can to help you succeed.” -JR
