Description
We are thrilled to host this Inner Selfie class with guest teacher and artist Aaron Piland.
This is a six week portrait class in which we will be exploring the inner self. The self portrait is one of the most useful ways to study ourselves and gain insight into how we see, think, and feel. With a medium of your choice, we will shine a light on our current state, looking at our thoughts, moods, feelings, and sensations.
Using guided meditation, intuitive drawing, mark makings, and a series of reflective exercises we will gradually create a portrait of ourselves that explores the magic and mysteries of who we are.
About the instructor:
Aaron Piland is a Portland based artist and illustrator who blurs the line between mind and matter. From a young age he was encouraged to make art as a form of self discovery. Today art is his native language which he uses to translate thoughts and feelings into color and form. He has worked extensively with traditional mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, and gouache as well as digital mediums such as procreate, photoshop, and illustrator and finds the two disciples complimentary. He works both as a painter for galleries and as an illustrator for clients. He holds a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design.
