Slab building Ceramic Forms with Guest Artist Margaret Bohls
Instructor: Margaret Bohls
Dates: Sat, Feb 8th and Sun, Feb 9th
Times: 10am-5pm with a 1hr lunch break
Location: Radius Art Studio One, 322 SE Morrison St
Join us for a very special two day workshop with guest artist Margaret Bohls, Associate Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska. In this workshop participants will get to design and construct forms using soft or hard slabs. Margaret will work with each student to develop paper templates for their designs. Students will learn to prepare slabs, techniques for building with them at different consistencies, and various ways of creating handles, lids and spouts. All work will be bisque fired at Radius and available for pickup during open studio hours. Students with glazing experience will also have the option to glaze and glaze fire during open hours (open studio fees are $5.50/hour).
This is a wonderful way to expand on existing ceramic skills and learn ways to build outside of the round. All experience levels are welcomed, but some ceramic experience is encouraged.
